Brown-Forman Senior Financial Accountant, Mexico and SouLACC in Guadalajara, Mexico

This exciting role interacts with multiple regions functions and has the responsibility over the Mexico and South Latin America, Caribbean and Central America (SouLACC) entities accounting analysis for statutory compliance. This role will partner with the SouLACC Commercial and Finance team closely to support the business. This role also works closely with the Tax department and other functions to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

What You Can Expect:

Accounting Analytics Support:

  • Work closely and collaboratively with multiple teams (Commercial, Production, Supply Chain…) to prepare Financial Statements projections under US GAAP and Local FRS for internal reporting and tax purposes according to schedules. Performs analysis of projections vs actuals and follows up on differences.

  • Responsible for accounting analysis of the Financial Statements (US GAAP and local standards) for Mexico and SCA&C entities. Independently and proactively interpret financial information, identify issues, and develop solutions for management review and actions.

  • Lead the monthly accounting variation analysis process; prepare Mexico and SouLA US GAAP FS and team-work with AP, AR, Treasury, Tax, Payroll, Production, etc to ensure high-quality information for senior management. Identify applicable adjustments and coordinate registers with responsible areas.

  • Responsible for the preparation and timely registering of the Mexico Inventory Reserve, partners with production and commercial teams to ensure the accuracy and correct allocation and disclosure of the calculation.

  • Responsible for the analysis and oversight of Mexico Inventory and Cost accounting, for statutory reporting purposes. Proactively works with production finance and other involved parties for the preparation of information and corresponding adjustments for local requirements. Participates in the annual physical inventory to ensure the accuracy of the information.

  • Partners with production finance for the correct and on-time delivery of information requested for statutory and corporate audits.

  • Prepare and analyze the intercompany royalties calculation, and partner with the intercompany accountant and tax team for transfer pricing requirements.

  • Supports the preparation and analysis of Mexico-segmented financial statements and works with the intercompany analyst for transfer price and ad-hoc reports.

SCA&C Legal Entities and Commercial Support:

  • Partner with the SCA&C finance team and our Statutory Compliance Team, for the accurate translation of financial records per US & Local GAAP.

  • Manage our 3rd party providers for SCA&C entities (Accounting, Tax, and/or Legal advisors), guaranteeing the accuracy of the information and on-time filings to ensure business continuity.

  • Partner with tax and payroll teams for statutory requirements and filings.

  • Responsible for coordinating and preparing information requested for government audits.

  • Assist with the completion of Internal Audits and SOX compliance.

  • Teamwork with our statutory compliance team to prepare US GAAP vs local books reconciliations, identify differences, and register ad-hoc adjustments.

  • Reviews, maintains, and reconciles accounts (Blackline tool), making adjustments, corrections, and journal entries as appropriate (US GAAP and Local FRS).

  • Participates in special projects and ad-hoc analysis in support of finance department and company initiatives.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Degree in accounting or finance Certified Public Accountant or equivalent, plus 5+ years of accounting or finance experience in similar roles.

  • Professional registration in the Regional Accounting Council is a must.

  • Strong critical thinking and quantitative skills, knowledge of the use of data analysis and metrics, and the ability to translate data and trends into actions.

  • Strong technical accounting background.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to present and articulate complex financial analysis in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.

  • Ability to build productive relationships across all levels and functions.

  • Fluency (oral and written) in English and Spanish.

  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment, meet deadlines, and simultaneously develop, deploy, and coordinate multiple projects.

What Makes You Unique:

  • Experience in statutory compliance for the region mainly in Colombia, Chile, and Argentina.

  • Project management experience and strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

  • Advanced computer skills with current, or ability to quickly build, proficiency in Google G Suite [Slides, Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar and Mail], Excel, SAP, Blackline, MRM.
