Brown-Forman Accountant IMENA in Gurgaon, India

SCOPE ● Responsible for the overall accuracy and integrity of our financials across our IMENA entities making sure our books comply with both US GAAP, local statutory requirements and management reporting ● Perform the Record to Report (R2R) function in IMENA which includes closing, balance sheet recon, cash flow management and tax compliance work under its own distribution model in a timely and accurate manner. ● Business partnering with IMENA Commercial and Finance teams on any business decision making and ad hoc projects ● Establish local policies and a solid internal control environment in IMENA region ● Improve accounting process efficiency and effectiveness where there are opportunities

CORE FUNCTIONS

1. Costing and Inventory

  • Perform invoice receipt for importation in SAP

  • Run material ledger for COGS/inventory allocation

  • Perform COGS Payment and accrual (include label, delivery fee, consumption tax and tariff)

  • Perform inventory balance review and provision

  • Be the point of contact for India costing and inventory queries

2. Operation tax related work

  • Handle VAT, TDS and Excise related matters timely and correctly by partnering with our tax agent

  • Complete CIT provision in OneSource quarterly

  • Be the point of contact for tax queries

3. Procure to Pay (P2P)

  • Maintain vendor master data

  • Prepare vendor payments requests and record in SAP and related administration

  • Respond to any ad hoc banking requests such as providing remittance receipt to customers

  • Marketing and sales support on payments queries

  • Liaise with bank relationship manager, corporate accounts payable team and treasury team to resolve banking or payment/Coupa related issues

  • Manage the various queries related to Concur and T&E policy

  • Ensure timely clearance of FEBA and reconcile with bank balance

  • Manage the cash flow needs for the IMENA offices

4. Record to Report(R2R)

  • Closing the book and TB analysis

  • Manage all accounting matters (such as JE and balance sheet reconciliation)

  • Ensure all expenses are valid and classify correctly

  • Ensure that the books are Local and US GAAP compliant

  • Support during internal and external audit

  • Assist the Finance teams by providing superior accounting support.

  • Ensure Intercompany recording, settlement and clearing

5. Process improvement

  • Drive accounting process efficiency and effectiveness through liaison with key stakeholders

  • Ensure robust internal control system for IMENA offices per ROW Internal Control Framework

  • Document Control - ensure completeness of important documents (i.e. contract with 3rd party suppliers, office lease contract, T&E/A&P documents, agency contract, etc.

  • Other ad hoc assignments

EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 years’ experience in an accounting function with similar responsibilities

  • Experience working with SAP or similar ERP platforms

  • Experience in Local GAAP and local tax regulations

  • Good knowledge of MS office Suite and G Suite (Google Sheets, Docs and Slides)

  • Verbal and written fluency in English required

  • Ability to work independently with punctuality and attention to details

Qualification, Skills and Other Key competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance and/or accounting or business administration

  • Good communication and influencing skills, service oriented.

  • Ability to work independently with punctuality and attention to details

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
