Meaningful Work From Day One:

The incumbent is serving as a business partner with the corporation and the German business unit, this individual is responsible for managing, facilitating, and coordinating financial accounting, reporting, and analytical activities with a focus on communicating quantitative and qualitative information in a clear, accurate, and timely manner. This position is a critical player in the finance organization being responsible for proper filing of all financial results for internal reporting as well as external reporting. Aside from all statutory tasks and the related responsibility this position is overseeing a group of people such as Procure-to-Pay Accountant, Order-to-Cash (Credit, Cash Apps and A/R) Accountant whom have dual reporting into their respective GBS functional managers, as well as a Senior Accountant. This position is taking care of the tasks below and in addition responsible for setting up and optimizing the whole accounting process in Germany.

What You Can Expect?

The Accounting Manager leads a team of four accountants responsible for all local OTC and PTP related transactions as well as supervising a senior accountant. This position furthermore includes monthly, quarterly and annual year-end accounting and closing activities to include as well as all relevant ledger activities such as:

  • VAT, Intrastat, Excise & Corporate Income tax reporting and filing with German tax authorities (HGB) incl. maintenance of appropriate ICP filing

  • All AP (PTP) and AR (OTC) relevant transactions have to be compliant not just with GAAP but also with German income tax legislation (taxable benefits).

  • Coordination between external payroll provider and BF accounting department to ensure proper accounting following German GAAP

  • Controls quarterly reconciliations and analysis of corporate balance sheet accounts and oversees advertising and promotion, discount, intercompany balances and billing, and other accrual processes

  • Cash reconciliations and management of the cash process with Head Office Treasury dept

  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate internal controls are in place and compliance with corporate financial policies. Provide and implement recommendations for improvements to internal controls and policies (eg: COUPA, CONCUR, Purchasing Policy etc)

  • Serves as business partner to the respective operating units. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities providing financial support and service to the senior management, as well as year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and financial forecasting activities.

  • Responds to inquiries from the Finance Directors, Europe Controller, and other finance and firm wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like, and acts as main contact person for all Audit relevant questions, both internal and external

What You Bring to the Table?

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or equivalent experience.

  • Solid years of experience in accounting and/or finance or a related combination of education (Bilanzbuchhalter) and professional and experience.

  • A demonstrated proficiency and understanding of US GAAP + German GAAP and the ability to prepare financial statements and analysis.

  • Several years of actively coaching a small team

  • Proven oral and written communication skills with the ability to clearly discuss business issues and translate into financial implications and action plans.

  • Fluency in spoken and written English and German.

  • Proficient at Microsoft Office products.

  • A working knowledge of the SAP environment (FI/CO/MM/BW).
