This role is the “heartbeat” of the On Trade channel ensuring that our premium portfolio is valuably sold and distributed from high end establishments all the way to your everyday local.

National Route To Market Manager purpose is to successfully lead a team who will grow On Trade sales whilst expanding our reach and influence within the UK On Trade. Taking our 10 year Brown-Forman ambition translating this into a meaningful annual target for value, volume, distribution, pricing and promotion strategy which aligns to the overall business goal to doubling operating income. You will establish trusted relationships with the other sub channels to ensure effective and efficient forecasting between direct and indirect customers.

This is a matenity cover contract till November 2025. This role can be based anywhere across the UK.

What You Can Expect

  • Provide inspirational leadership of a team consisting of direct and indirect reports whilst acting as role model for B-F values and culture. You will encourage a culture of inclusiveness where different perspectives are encouraged and individuals feel connected and valued.

  • Support the team development by providing opportunities and coaching including ongoing constructive feedback. In conjunction with your HR partner identify any capability gaps and address them through the appropriate learning and development programs.

  • Take ownership and accountability of developing, executing and delivering the On Trade Wholesale channel strategy, based on the overall business goals of Make It A Double . Align and communicate the channel strategy with the wider organisation including Marketing, Finance and Supply Chain. Be a strategic thought partner for other teams and departments whilst championing the importance of the On Trade Wholesale channel.

  • Continuously improve and evaluate the relationships with Customers within the On Trade Wholesale channel by actioning insights generated by external sources such as the Advantage Group.

  • Support and lead negotiations where required to close annual commercial agreements with accounts. Challenge the team to have a growth and entrepreneurial mindset to deliver improved terms year on year.

  • Lead and challenge the team to develop and execute account plans which include value, volume, promotional activity, visibility, logistics and customer contribution along with KPI’s that define what that success looks like.

  • Partner with Brand Marketing, Managed On Trade, Independent Field Sales and Finance in the planning and budgeting process ensuring that there is full integration of the Brown-Forman brand strategies & priorities.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Demonstrate that you can lead, inspire and galvanise people into delivering and being accountable for the results against an aligned channel strategy.

  • Self-starter with the ability to identify issues, projects, plans and prioritise multiple projects to a given deadline.

  • Proven track record of successfully negotiating with national and regional customers. You will be positively ambitious with a growth mind and willing to be commercially creative and challenge the status quo. As a leader you are willing to impart this knowledge into your team in order to build greater sales capabilities.

  • Proven ability to create a strategy which utilises and incentives customer wholesale sales teams to deliver growth and distribution targets for our core brands.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally.

  • An ability to be curious and won’t settle for the status quo but use data to unlock insights with partners to grow sales.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and integrate comprehensive sales and marketing plans and assess levers for growth.

  • Strong computer skills with current, or the ability to quickly build, proficiency in Google Workspace.

What Makes You Unique

  • Minimum of 10 years plus sales experience preferable within Managed, Non Managed and Free Trade channels.

  • Passionate and knowledgeable about the On Trade and Wholesale channel, you build and maintain effective working relationships in order to drive growth with our trade partners.
