Brown-Forman Bar Lead - Georges Bar in Louisville, Kentucky

Meaningful Work From Day One:

Bar Lead at Old Forester Distilling Co. is responsible for the day to day supervision of George’s Bar located inside the distillery. Bar Lead will be part of the Old Forester Distilling Co. homeplace team and will report directly to the Old Forester Distillery Bar Manager.

What You Can Expect:

  • Work with the Bar Manager to successfully complete inventory monthly.

  • Assist with pars, and ordering.

  • Train staff to provide excellent service to patrons.

  • Enforce quality and safety controls with OFD policies including B-F Responsibility

  • initiatives.

  • Plan and execute promotional events.

  • Maintain a fun, safe atmosphere in George’s Bar.

  • Assist in the creation of and the training of the cocktail menu.

  • Provide education training of Old Forester product and brand training.

  • Maintain product prep pars.

  • Assist with the set up and the breakdown of the bar and cash drawer.

  • Responsible for ensuring the music in George’s Bar is aligned with the homeplace and

  • sets a consistent tone across the homeplace functional areas

  • Create and maintain SOP for daily operation in George’s Bar.

  • Support the overall Old Forester Distillery Experience as needed.

  • Serve as onsite Bar lead when Bar Manager is not available.

What You Will Experience:

  • Responsible for the opening bar, prep ingredients, stock.

  • Stationed at the bar during tour hours for guests in holding or trying products.

  • Maintain a clean and presentable bar area at all times.

  • Prep for events if applicable.

  • Manage transactions in the bar area (POS training and Lightspeed Restaurant

  • Management).

  • Ensure safe and responsible service in the bar area.

  • Attend/support/work special events as needed.

  • Maintain par levels of inventory for alcoholic, non-alcoholic, culinary, and ice items.

  • Clean/close up bar area at the end of service.

  • Financial reporting.

  • Daily oversight of cash handling for George’s Bar.

We Are Looking For People Who:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Restaurant, bar or management experience.

  • Strong understanding of business management and accounting principles.

  • Proficient computer, problem-solving, and customer service skills.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to diffuse tense situations and resolve conflicts.

  • Willingness to work during peak hours, including weekends and some evenings and

  • holidays.

  • Decisiveness.

  • Ability to walk, stand, and occasionally carry heavy items in a fast-paced, stressful

  • environment.

  • Creativity not only with cocktails but also problem-solving

  • Personable, hospitable and professional demeanor.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Preferred Experience & Education:

  • Strong understanding of B-F culture and the Old Forester Brand.

  • External whiskey certifications (Stave & Thief, CSS, etc).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the history of Old Forester Distilling Co. and the family of

  • products produced.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the distillery process operation; maturation procedures and a complete understanding of the entire process of making and aging Old Forester.
