Brown-Forman Financial Analyst (Remote Work Opportunity) in Louisville, Kentucky
Meaningful Work From Day One:
The Financial Analyst supports the US&C Lead Accountant and is responsible for various accounting and financial transactions and analyses for the U.S. and Canada Region (US&C). This position will work with US & Canada Finance divisions, Brand Teams, Supply Chain, Corporate Accounting, Global POS Sourcing, Global Business Solutions (GBS), and other cross-functional groups within the organization. The analyst will ensure the accuracy of Brown-Forman’s financial records and compliance with internal controls and will propose and participate in process improvement projects.
What You Can Expect:
Serve as a business partner to the US&C business and its Finance division, performing financial accounting and analysis. This position includes monthly, quarterly, and annual year-end accounting and closing activities as well as other important tasks and responsibilities such as:
Financial Records:
Ensures an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing entries, financial analysis, year-end audit preparation, etc.
Oversees advertising and promotion, and other accrual calculations and records
Prepares or manages and respects all deadlines imposed by the company (monthly journal entries, Sarbanes Oxley controls, quarterly account reconciliations, etc.)
Operations:
Prepare the US&C A&P (Advertising & Promotion) entry (i.e., estimate of incurred brand expense) and associated financial analysis (i.e. variance analysis)
Manage POS accounting and reconciliations; identify and resolve SAP and HH Global systems’ interface issues
Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting close process for US & Canada divisions
Prepare and coordinate accounting year-end training meetings with all US & Canada employees
Manage journal entries e.g. brand expense; prepaid amortizations; marketing research; accruals, corporate freight and warehouse variances, inventory true-ups, reclassifications, intercompany accruals and invoicing
Ensure accuracy and documentation of reclass entries and year-end accruals requested by the region’s finance team
Manage Distributor Investment Funds (DIF) yearly contracts and reconciliations process and perform random audit reviews to ensure controls are compliant with guidelines
Manage lease accounting entries for US & Canada divisions
Prepare Balance Sheet Accounts Reconciliations and clearings
Ensure SOX Control compliance
Analytics and Advisory:
Assist with month-end financial analysis review
Work with US&C Finance to understand significant brand expense accrual adjustments and period variances
Analyze POS inventory levels and ensure they tie to HHG Global reports
Lead year-end accounting training to US & Canada finance and commercial teams
Lead/assist ad-hoc analysis projects e.g. spend types; freight accruals
Assist with accounting questions and provide guidance to stakeholders e.g. Expense classification
Develop and implement internal controls guidelines e.g. Prepaid amortization and year-end accruals trackers
Implement new Accounting Policies e.g. Lease Accounting
Assist/Lead Special Projects and Initiatives:
Ensure the accuracy of Brown-Forman’s financial records and compliance with controls
Participate in projects to simplify/automate processes such as prepaids and accrual estimations
Work with the Digital Transformation Team on assessing the right tools and systems to reach the above goal
Periodically review contracts and ensure related accounting entries are updated accordingly
Other ad hoc projects and requirements
We Are Looking For People Who:
● Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
● 3+ years of accounting or finance experience in similar roles
● CPA desired
● Proven accounting and analytical capabilities with the ability to collect, analyze, and present results in a concise format
● Proactive in recommending positive changes in procedures and leading the agreed-upon change process
● Ability to work efficiently on Excel and/or Google Sheets
● Experience in working with SAP, Business Warehouse or similar software
● Demonstrated interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective work relationships with all levels of personnel
