Brown-Forman Manager GBS Regional Payroll Process- EU in Warsaw, Poland

The Regional Payroll Process Manager - Europe will be responsible for payroll process oversight and vendor management in 22 European countries. This position will be responsible for developing policies, processes, controls, and automation aligned with the Global Business Solutions payroll strategy. The role is responsible for facilitating vendor selection and vendor management practices across all European countries and ensuring internal and external process accountabilities are clearly defined, regularly measured, and deficiencies addressed. This position also serves as the process liaison between local payroll teams and those corporate/global functions that produce information that influences payroll, as well as serves as the payroll point person for European expats. In addition, the position liaises with the Tax Department to provide regional-level tax insights.
What You Can Expect
Provide leadership and guidance to the payroll point persons and processes in 22 European countries in accordance with the GBS payroll strategy.
Strives for accurate, timely, and compliant payroll production, as measured by defined KPIs, and supported by country specific-payroll calendars, Standard Operating Procedures (regular and year-end), accountability RACIs, and appropriate financial controls as defined by accounting narratives.
Ensures appropriate vendor sourcing and management practices are in place, including standard contract terms, regular rebids, data handling agreements and practices, SLA establishment & monitoring, issues tracking and mitigation, and regular performance reviews.
Manages and monitors payroll costs. Responsible for oversight/approval of incremental vendor charges outside of defined parameters.
Establishes relationships with the account management of the payroll vendors, and serves as a point of escalation for payroll issues mitigation and recourse.
Ensure the Workday system is leveraged to provide all possible employee information needed for payroll vendors. For non-Workday data, liaises with appropriate payroll influencers to ensure data flows to payroll are accurate, timely, well-documented and well-automated.
Ensures timely and accurate tax payments and other regulatory obligations are met in each country.
Serves as the payroll and tax liaison between the Mobility function and the European expat community.
Ensures all local payroll point persons understand their role in the end-to-end process, are appropriately trained, and held accountable for performing assigned tasks.
Partnership/linkage to other GBS payroll regional leads to develop global payroll strategy, best practices and on-going continuous improvement activities.
Liaise with the tax department to provide regional tax expertise, coordination and review of tax packages.
What You Bring to the Table
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
8+ years experience in international payroll, accounting, and tax
Proven ability to lead/influence direct or indirect teams
Experience in vendor management
Fluent in English
Strong leadership characteristics with the ability to establish goals and objectively measure attainment.
Demonstrated ability to develop employees to achieve higher levels of contribution and success.
Solid understanding of taxable wages, payroll and social taxes.
Ability and desire to understand and positively interact with individuals of numerous cultures and backgrounds.
Proven oral and written communication skills with the ability to clearly discuss payroll related issues with employees throughout the organization, at all levels of the organization; and externally with third-party providers and governmental agencies.
Process and detail oriented alongside critical and strategic thinking ability.
Ability to work with remote teams and maintain constant communication.
Partner with other stakeholders to achieve process improvements and meet goals and deadlines
Ability to influence and provide candid feedback while, at all times, acting in a professional manner and with the company’s shared values.
Forward thinking with excellent project management skills.
Strong working knowledge of SAP R/3 systems, particularly related to the GL
Ability to effectively handle confidential information and material.
